About Acquario di Livorno

Address: Piazzale Mascagni, 57127 Livorno (LI), Italy

Built: 1937, by engineer Enrico Salvais with Luigi Pastore

The aquarium first opened as part of Livorno’s grand seafront promenade, was badly damaged during the Second World War, and closed entirely in 1999. It reopened in July 2010 under Costa Edutainment.

It’s named after Diacinto Cestoni, a 17th-century naturalist.

Opening Hours

Opening Hours:

Daily Hours: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Last Admission: 5:00 PM (one hour before closing)

Acquario di Livorno runs on a seasonal calendar rather than one fixed timetable. It opens daily to the public through the main season, while during the school term public opening generally narrows to weekends and public holidays, with weekdays largely booked out for school and group visits.

Because daily visitor numbers are capped, booking your ticket online ahead of time is worth doing.
